Whilst many patients who access healthcare providers deem themselves to be unwell, there are certain patients who may deteriorate quite quickly. They demonstrate certain signs and symptoms which are recognisable to those trained, and appropriate early intervention can improve patient outcomes.

What will this session cover ?

  • the acutely ill patient on the phone

  • signs and symptoms of an acutely ill adult

  • signs and symptoms of an acutely ill child

  • recognising the acutely ill psychiatric patient

  • the ‘serious’ medical conditions and how they present

  • what role the non-clinical team have to play in these scenarios
