We are pleased to let you know that the new Learning Disabilities Core Skills Education and Training Framework has been launched today.
Developed by Skills for Health, Health Education England (HEE) and Skills for Care, commissioned by the Department of Health, the framework sets out the essential skills and knowledge necessary for all staff involved in learning disabilty care.
The framework will enable organisations to:
Identify key skills and knowledge for roles and team
Plan and design content for education and training
Commission education and training
Conduct training needs analysis
Support performance management processes and the assessment of competence

According to Public Health England, people with a learning disability tend to have poorer health than the general population. Ensuring the workforce understand and meet the needs of people with a learning disability is crucial to improving the quality of care they receive and their overall quality of life.

In light of changes to qualification regulations and other developments affecting health and adult care qualifications in England, Skills for Health and Skills for Care are reviewing and refreshing the content of current qualifications. We'd like to particularly invite all healthcare support workers/adult care staff/maternity support workers/ahps/paediatric workers and employers to take part in the conusultation.
